Seams, aka James Welch, had until now evaded me. After spending last summer working in Berlin and recording the sounds of the streets on his mobile phone, Seams released his Tourist EP back in November. Focused around the aforementioned recordings, Welch has fleshed out his sound where necessary to produce a release that sounds a lot more human and organic than your usual electronic fare.
Featured above is the entirely field recorded Carnivals and you can stream the rest of the EP, along with several of his other releases, on Spotify or purchase it for the meagre sum of £3 on his bandcamp page.
Finally, Seams has a couple of tour dates lined up. He’s playing at the CAMP Basement, London tonight alongside Three Trapped Tigers and Actress and if that line up doesn’t make you salivate then I don’t know what will. If you can’t make that then he’s got another London date lined up for March 1st, supporting Gold Panda at XOYO. Good luck trying to find tickets though.
