]]> Screaming Females are a punk rock band from New Brunswick, NJ. ’Ugly’ is their fifth album and was released on Don Giovanni Records earlier this month. The band have seemingly mastered their sound, adding more variety to the songs than on the previous records while still retaining their distinctive sound. This release confirms Marissa Paternoster’s energy, both is vocals and guitar playing – yet another female (alongside Brownstein et al.) taking the rock-scene by the throat and standing up there with the best.

The band started out playing shows everywhere and anywhere and it seems their hard work has paid off, seeing them featured in the Rolling Stone among other things. With Steve Albini involved on ‘Ugly’, the future is looking bright for the New Jersey threesome.
