]]> OMBRE is a collaboration between Asthmatic Kitty label-mates Julianna Barwick and Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange’s Latin electro-folk project). The pair has recently released an album, Believe You Me, which sees Barwick’s otherworldly voice delicately intertwined with Lange’s instrumentation (and occasional vocals) to dreamy effect. The album is every bit as ethereal as the pairing of OMBRE’s members suggests, with vocals that somnolently billow around the fine guitars and horns. It may be too meditative for some, and indeed isn’t suited to all occasions (peace, quiet, and headphones or good speakers are a must), but the album really represents a triumph of the integration and synthesis of two talented and imaginative artists.
