The result was Tissue Issues, and the duo cemented themselves as a ‘real’ band to release it with Paris label Howlin’ Banana. Taking the 80s showgaze aesthetic and making it their own with a minimalist sensibility and lo-fi twist, the record is packed full of transportative and richly textured tracks, from the slow rise of opener ‘Projection On A Sheet’ to the aching cool of the title track, which throws on Pavement-esque the slacker vibes into the gauzy space.

Moments of clarity are present too, with the cover of Ozzy & Mylee’s ‘Pray For The Sunshine’ cutting through the reverb with a shining brightness, while single ‘Comme Un Fool’ returns to the snaking fog. The entire track is loaded with the promise of tumultuous climax, and It’ Sunday deliver with liberal regularity, pushing the loud-quiet effect to its limits.

These weighty tracks are interspersed with snappier songs. inspired by the bedroom pop movement. ‘Leafy Friend’ has an irreverent bite, and ‘Daisy Depression draws on the likes of early Girlpool in its subversively conversational tone. There’s a cathartic momentum that juxtaposes with the lyrics of ‘Go and Die’, while ‘Hair’ builds with patience, an off-kilter edge to the rhythm eventually disintegrating into a spacey jumble.

Issues is set for release on the June via Howlin Banana Records and you can pre-order it from Bandcamp.
