RACES, formerly known as Black Jesus, appear to have shot into the limelight at the CMJ 2011 festival in NYC. I don’t know a whole lot about them apart from the fact they released a 7″ Single on JaxArt and are set to release an EP sometime very soon on Frenchkiss. Their songs are pretty hard to nail down, I hear a bit of The Walkmen on ‘Living Cruel & Rude’ and in Big Broom the vocals sound more Robin Pecknold. Having said that RACES sound nothing like Fleet Foxes or The Walkmen (probably not even the same genre as such). They have their own sound worth your time, which after a good few listens, has made me stick my neck out and say they are set for big things.

You can download the Big Broom/Living Cruel & Rude 7″ Single on a ‘name-your-price basis.
