]]> Dot & Logic are a band from Brooklyn, New York. Starting out as an experimental solo project of Kyle Joseph (which led to 2013’s Homebody), the act grew into a full band with the addition of Nick Pope, Jon Markson, and Paul Bloom. Their new album Foresting is due out at the end of the week and we’re delighted to bring you a première of the track ‘So Long’.

The song, made in collaboration with electronic artist and fellow New Yorker Brothertiger, is a slow burning pop song, full of wistful emotion and atmospheric instrumentation. Think a moody, lovesick Radical Face, or a less intense Dawn Golden.

“Been a while now
Thought you would get away from me
Ever beat around it
The way that you got to be
Ever get up
Step in
Though it’s rough
It’s rough, saying something’s gonna happen when you’re still happening
Am I wrong
Aren’t you stepping in to pay out later on
And I’m really hoping later’s gonna come
cause you always take so long, so long”

As seems to be a signature of the record (in this way Foresting is an apt name), the track uses intricate layering to produce something surprisingly complex, with what at first seems to be a simple pop song opening up upon repeated listens to become something far more nuanced and interesting.
