In 2014 we wrote about two tracks from a dream pop act called Dearest, both of which were slow and swirling and generally very nice. We recently had an email from lead Tessa Bolsover to say that the band has now changed it’s name to Opals, and that they have a brand new track. Titled ‘Water’, Bolsover says the song:

“Explores the human elements of electronic music, pairing American folk melodies with weaving analog synths…written in the Southern California desert, the song meditates on drought and adaptation.”

That’s a pretty good summation of how the track sounds, a slow electronic build eventually joined by smoky vocals and gentle swelling percussion. Have a listen below:

‘Hunting’ is the brand new single from LA quartet Dearest. The track is a haunting love song, gauzy dream pop instrumentation provides the perfect backdrop to lead Tessa Bolsover’s smoky vocals. It has this sedated, somnolent vibe, with it’s twilit spaces and slightly spooky synths. It’s very nice indeed, and certainly has me wanting to hear more. Check it out in the player below: The band have just one other track online, which you can hear on their Souncloud page.
