]]> Fierce Creatures are about to release Catacomb Party, their first full-length album on Paper Garden Records (it’s released on 11th September). You can sample the album via the label’s Soundcloud page, and it’s an interesting listen indeed. Catacomb Party is full of lively, eclectic, indie-pop in the vein of someone like Of Montreal, but with the twee level dialled down and the rockin’ psychedelic experimentation turned up. There are seven members in total, and each plays a vital role in crafting each song, providing the album with a genre-hopping unpredictability (in much the same way as label-mates Conveyor‘s recent release). The lead single (embedded below) is a bouncy blend of catchy hooks and dreamy vocals which sums up the energy of the album pretty nicely. The crazy cover art (above) also serves as a nice summation of the music in a way that’s difficult to put into words. So just listen (and look) and you’ll see where I’m coming from.

Hopefully, once you get both parts they can be played from start to finish and encapsulate the whole duration of a summer’s day in 50(ish) songs.
