Cannon Beach – Concrete, People and Things

Concrete, People and Things is the debut album of Scandanavian duo Cannon Beach. They make an interesting brand of folk music that is somehow both electronic and lo-fi (think along the lines of Mount Eerie). Simon Hjortdal writes the lyrics, drawing on the classics like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, and records the guitar before passing the song onto Ole Jørgen Kristensen who makes the other sounds (and produced the album). His interest in shoegaze and black metal show through and give the record something different.

The album was released by Norwegian label Ikenai! Records and is a free download on Bandcamp. It really is an interesting listen and is well worth your time. We look forward to seeing what these guys do next.
