Meagre Martin – In The Room

Back in December we introduced Up To Snuff, the forthcoming new EP from Berlin‘s Meagre Martin on Mansions and Millions, with single ‘Frankie’. “Pairing gauzy shoegaze textures with a persistent rhythm, the track embraces a bright spirit of playfulness and curiosity,” we wrote, “[the song] submitting to the thrilling sensation of falling for someone and letting the current move in whatever direction it sees fit.”

Now Meagre Martin are kicking off the new year with ‘In The Room’, a brand new single from the EP which shows off its heavier side. Described as “a heartfelt letter to little boys who are crushed and moulded into society’s standards for men,” the song uses its slow, sludgy style to take on the cloying weight of toxic masculinity. Opening up a space in which such forces can be acknowledged and confronted once and for all.

Get excited
I’ve had enough
I’ve been divided
Pieces of myself
It’s in the room,
It’s in the room,
It’s in the room.
For you,
For you,
I’ll cry for you.

‘In The Room’ is out now via Mansions and Millions and available from the Meagre Martin Bandcamp page. Up To Snuff will be released on February 14th.
