Rain Gregorio – Foggy Stepper

Last year we wrote about Rain Gregorio‘s EP Myrtle on Holiday on Anxiety Blanket Records, praising how its lush beat and backing vocals from Mini Trees’ Lexi Vega created “a sense of closeness which only amplifies the overall emotional resonance.” Fast forward a year and Gregorio is back with a new single ‘Foggy Stepper’ to pick up where the EP left off.

The first taste of the debut Rain Gregorio album, currently scheduled for release sometime next year, the song offers a tangible evolution of the sound introduced by Myrtle on Holiday. A steady rhythm motors on beneath finger picked electric guitars and splashes of electronic beats and volatile synths. The haziness of the title is apparent from the opening, leaving the vocals to grasp for something solid within the mist. But though the chorus might not be able to provide complete stability, it meets the searching hand halfway to offer reassurance amid the fog.

‘Foggy Stepper’ is out now via streaming services.
