Razor Braids – She

Proudly all female/non-binary and born of a nineties alt rock aesthetic, Razor Braids is a band which functions as a source of both fun and healing. The Brooklyn outfit released single ‘Nashville, Again’ at the beginning of the year, where reflective vocals and a warm, controlled sound highlighted their willingness to hold up vulnerability as a form of compassion. There was no shortage of longing in the song, with a refrain urging a loved one to stay and realise the potential of a relationship, though what in other tracks might have been desperation or melancholy was with Razor Blades instead a gentle fondness.

Ahead of an imminent tour, Razor Braids have now returned with ‘She’, a brand new single. Although the song might emerge from a similar mood, it makes the decision to move forward rather than forever look back. This change is captured by an added dose of energy, as though willingly shaking itself from past desires in order to find new hope and joy in desires as of yet unrealised. An anthem to put those bad experiences to bed, and instead grasp the potential of the moment with a love more healthy and fulfilling.

‘She’ is out now and available from the Razor Braids Bandcamp page.
