We first featured Portland singer-songwriter Corinne Sharlet back in 2019 when we wrote about the single ‘Hail Mary’ from her debut EP, Deceiver. We were impressed with the way the song combined the delicate and the raw into something immediately emotional but somehow ethereal too. “Corinne Sharlet makes music haunting yet tied to the corporeal condition,” we wrote, “as though within the desperate beat of blood lies something intangible too.”
Later this year, Sharlet will release her debut full-length album, A Lovely Future. After putting the title track back in February, she has just unveiled the record’s second single. Titled ‘Pink Summer Moon,’ the song sees Sharlet joined by Mike Gamble on guitar, Andrew Crenshaw on bass and Chris Jonedis on percussion, all coming together to create a woozy, cosmic atmosphere, like a message of devotion beamed across the void of space from the lunar surface referenced in the title.
Pink Summer moon
you know the easy way to love me
You just hang up above me and light up the sky
Set the night on fire
call me by my name
Am I the only one who knows you like this
Do I burn a secret Flame?I want you to stay
Don’t leave me alone
I can’t face the day
And what has to be done
