We introduced you to Awake, the new EP from Julie Jay’s Tiny Dinosaurs last month with lead single, ‘Shut Out The Light’. Featuring Peter Silberman of The Antlers, the track was the perfect encapsulation of the release’s origin story, with most of the tracks being written right after Jay emerged from a coma. As we described:
“[The song] blends folk and dream pop to conjure a sense of isolation and remoteness… Jay’s voice emerg[ing] as the clear centre point… as though she’s calling from within a dream”
Now we have another song from Awake and it’s clear that the entire release will maintain the same focus and quality. ‘Sit and Stare’ is less a dream, more the long, slow days in between, spans of time with nothing to do but dwell on the past and the future and what might have been. Directed by Jay herself, and starring Weston Verdegaal, the video follows a dejected protagonist on such a day, a character so caught up in some past figure or event that he’s blind to the present.
Awake is being released on the 21st October and you can pre-order it now from the Tiny Dinosaurs website.
