You always know what you’re going to get from a Donovan Woods song. Mainly heartbreak and misery, nostalgia and sincerity, longing and loneliness and lingering love. But the anguish and grief don’t come alone, there is also intimacy, warmth and a silly fool’s hope that distances will close and reunions be made and things will work out fine in the end. Basically, what folk songs are all about.
Donovan Woods has a new album coming out next month called Hard Settle, Ain’t Troubled. The songs below both a) prove the above descriptions and, b) prove he is still very much on form.
You can pre-order Hard Settle, Ain’t Troubled on a variety of formats from the Donovan Woods website ahead of its release on the 26th February. We’ll try and get a proper review up closer to release.
