Okay so this is old news by internet standards but we love Say Hi and are going to tell you anyway. Eric Elbogen’s outfit have put out two songs in preparation of their forthcoming new album, Bleeder’s Digest, a record which sees a return to the vampiric themes of 2006’s Impeccable Blahs. As explained in the press release:
“Vampires. Does there exist a species more mysterious, slandered, glorified and misunderstood?
Bleeders Digest is their story. It’s polaroids of their patience, resilience and wrath. Is there a better metaphor for intimacy than the vampire? The sharp teeth and fluids, the romance of eternity”
Fans will be pleased to find that Elbogen has not done anything drastically different with the classic Say Hi (To Your Mom) sound, using the tried-and-tested combo of guitar and synth and placing his lyrics at the forefront of each track. ‘Creatures of the Night’ introduces us to Aldo and Tina, the two blood-sucking room-mate protagonists who are confined to their apartment during daylight, while ‘The Grass is Always Greener’ tells of Jenny, a woman who swaps Montana for a “big, big building without any windows” in an unnamed metropolis. Jenny crosses paths with handsome winged demons, although the result is not quite what you might expect.
