Zee Town and the Dog Boys are Thomas Armstrong and Molly Martin from Falmouth in Cornwall. This self-titled EP is as far as I can tell the first thing they’ve released, and boy am I glad they did. It was recorded of the space of two months in the seaside flat the pair shared in Cornwall and manages to fuse shoegazey fuzz with intimate bedroom pop to create something really rather lovely. The EP was put out by Wavey Head, a music and arts label based in Cornwall and the Isle of Man, who describe the release as:
“glistened with mellow summer melodies on top of layers and layers of americana fuzz guitars, delicate electronic trips and slow ride drum beats….a pop daze of shoegaze repetition and beautiful texture”
That’s seems like a pretty perfect description to me, but if you’re still unsure think Beach House in their sad teenage bedroom years.
