Celebrity Crush are a lo-fi band from Los Angeles (who FYI recently changed their name from Soma). This release is, as the name suggests, a collection of demos for the band’s forthcoming debut album. There are some nice lo-fi pop songs (such as ‘Sidewalks’ and ‘Sick Days’), some dreamy instrumentals (‘Orchids’ and ‘Bakersfield’ being stand-outs) and some scrappy live recordings. As these are demos you should expect things to be a little rough around the edges, but not necessarily in a bad way. There’s certainly enough cool-sounding stuff here to make me a little excited for the full release.

The band belong to an LA-based arts group called Seni Collective who use this explanation to define themselves:
Art is a beautiful thing, be it music, Photography, or any other medium. The one thing that sucks about art as a whole, is it’s rife with judgment. Seni (Javanese for “art”) exists to present art, sans judgment.
Wake the Deaf are definitely on board with that sentiment. The collective are releasing a lot of cool music at the moment so visit their bandcamp page and explore!
You can download Celebrity Crush’s Demos for however much you like via the Celebrity Crush Bandcamp page, or via the Seni Collective Bandcamp page. Keep your eyes peeled for news on the album.
