Wolf Collage is the alias of San Francisco resident Rodney Brown. He makes the sort of earnest dream/bedroom pop that I love, and I must say he’s rather good at it. He last full release, Forward, was introduced back in January (and managed to slip by my radar), and is full of all the things
Brown shows that he is equally adept at making straight-up acoustic folk songs (see ‘Are We Done Yet?’ and the title track), alt-rock (as on ‘Glow’) and some bedroom-crafted lo-fi beats (’…Next Stop: Wherever’). ‘Up the Denial’ throws a curveball at its centrepoint, beginning as a nicely strummed acoustic track, before eventually kicking off into full-tilt indie rock. The record shows Brown as a versatile artist, one who is adept at crafting songs in a variety of genres.
Brown has recently released a new track entitled ‘Something Like That’, which will appear on a brand new, self-titled album due later this year. It’s basically a rock song, and it’s great. Check it out in the player below:

You can purchase the new track, along with the impressive Wolf Collage back catalogue (okay, just two other releases, but they’re both really good), over at his Bandcamp page. I, for one, can’t wait to hear what he does next.
