Emily and the Woods are a band fronted by a woman named Emily Wood, hence the name I guess. Then We Collide is their third EP (after 2010’s self-titled debut and 2011’s Eye to Eye), and sees a slight departure from the sound of previous releases. Less singer-songwriter-y acoustic, this is a sort of shimmery, pensive indie pop. The focal point is still Wood’s expressive vocal work, which suit her understated lyrical style perfectly.
Lead track ‘Helios’ has been given the video treatment by director Alice Smith. Check it out in the player below:
