Documenta is the new album from Fred Woods, a Quebecois musician that has an intriguing brand of folk/electronic/cinematic music. He uses a variety of instruments (according to Bandcamp: saxophone, harmonium, keyboards, ukelele, charango, percussions, samples, and of course, good old guitars and drums) to create an atmospheric sound which he scatters with his haunting voice to great effect. Even the empty spaces within each song seem intentional and important, with a desperate isolation apparent in each track.
Listen to ‘The Pond’ and watch the video for ‘Schools’ below. Documenta is available to buy digitally on Bandcamp and will be released on CD/vinyl in January 2013.
