There appears to be very little information around about Larry Gus (although bizarrely, someone seems to be making a film about him). From my 10 minutes of research, I managed to gather the following nuggets of non-enlightening trivia: Larry Gus’ is Panagiotis Melidis, a Greek bedroom producer currently based either in Milan or a small town in Greece called Veroia (larrygus apparently means larynx in Greek). In July last year Melidis recorded a beat tape of eclectic instrumental hip hop built from scraps of eveything from field recordings to jazz, classical and even a bouzouki. 24 Beats is a collection of short (from a mere 30 seconds to two minutes) emotive pieces that show some seriously inventive sample mining tinged with a distinct sense of fun.
