I have written about Withered Hand (Dan Willson and any number of guests in accompaniment) before, near Christmas when I mentioned his Christmas release. Willson is releasing a new EP as part of Fence Records’ Chart Ruse series. Heart Heart was recorded with fellow folk artist Darren Hayman and the lead single (the eponymous Heart Heart) has been made available for your listening pleasure, complete with backing vocals from Rozi Plain and another lovely video from Forest of Black.

I have heard this song before, I think it was played in a session a while back, and am glad that the recorded version remains more or less true to the version I was familiar with. It is a slight change from the usual Withered Hand sound but a worthwhile one. Should Withered hand manage to get together a full band and tour songs like this I see no reason why they wouldn’t achieve a greater level of recognition. It would be fully deserved.
