2562 – Fever

Never heard of 2562? Nor me. But Fever is apparently the Dutch producer’s third LP, and is a singularly bizarre concept piece. Made entirely from late 70s and 80s underground disco music (using the year of his birth – 1979 – as the cut off point), with no extra samples or sounds, it is definitely not for the unadventurous. Oh, and in case you were wondering, it doesn’t sound anything like disco. This much is evident from opener ‘Winamp Melodrama’, which is a glitchy, percussive type-thing, which sounds like some kind of vinyl seizure. 2562 (AKA Dave Huisman, AKA A Made Up Sound) hasn’t let his seemingly restrictive concept stifle his creativity. The end product is hard to classify, but it drifts between dubstep, house and 2-step .

You can listen to the whole of Fever over on 2562’s Soundcloud and buy it on physical formats here. Digital downloads will be available from April 4th.
