Daedelus – Bespoke

If you’re not already familiar with Daedelus, then I suggest you listen to a preview of his new album Bespoke here, because any attempt to give an accurate description of this electic and quite frankly bizarre artist with mere words is ultimately doomed. Culling samples from sources as diverse as films, children’s TV, hip hop and jazz, mixed with a plethora of electronic bleeps, bloops and textures, Daedelus (real name Alfred Darlington) manages to escape most attempts at pigeon-holing, unless you want to tar him with the exceptionally vague brushes ‘experimental’, or God forbid, ‘IDM’ – none of which do Darlington any justice.

Bespoke is out on the 11th of next month on Ninja Tune. If you’re not one of the lucky few going to Minehead’s BLOC weekend, where Daedelus will be performing, then you can catch him tonight in Bristol at The Thekla, or tomorrow at the Cardiff Arts Institute.
