‘Brushes Like a Fox’, new single from Saint Corsair ahead of EP, Velvet & Soil

Saint Corsair, the latest addition to the Furious Hooves gang, is a ‘new age ensemble’ led and directed by Lucas Carpenter. In keeping with the juxtaposition of the band name, their latest album is called Velvet & Soil, and is coming out later this month. In preparation, Saint Corsair have released a single to grab your attention. ‘Brushes Like a Fox’ is detached yet weirdly cinematic, like that blank space behind your eyes when you’ve been staring at the TV too long in the dark, the sound up too loud. The effect is a song surreal and strange yet grounded in human life, the weirdness seeping not from space or some other dimension but from our own heads.

“What a curious thing to think about,
What it’s like being something else.
You can curse the saints left and right
But don’t you dare deny your own health”
