You always know what you’re going to get from a Donovan Woods song. Mainly heartbreak and misery, nostalgia and sincerity, longing and loneliness and lingering love. But the anguish and grief don’t come alone, there is also intimacy, warmth and a silly fool’s hope that distances will close and reunions be made and things will work out fine in the end. Basically, what folk songs are all about.
Donovan Woods has a new album coming out next month called Hard Settle, Ain’t Troubled. The songs below both a) prove the above descriptions and, b) prove he is still very much on form.
