Head In The Clouds: Vol 1

Welcome to what I intend to be a (semi) regular feature here at WtD. Head in the Clouds will be my monthly update of what’s good on Soundcloud. Featuring 5-10 tracks each time, it’s not intended to be an in depth review, more just a pointer to some of the seriously good stuff available.

Kicking us off is Flurrish by Capeface, described by the artist as “A little piano piece got a little warped.” I can only imagine that if The Caretaker and Oneohtrix Point Never hosted a party, this is what it would sound like.

Next up is a remix of Daughter’s Youth by Sieren. It builds and builds without ever becoming overwhelming. It’s every bit as emotive as this original, just laced with swirling reverb and nudging synths.

Following on nicely is a John Talabot remix of Peaking Lights’ Beautiful Sun. Described by one listener as an ‘audible bubble bath’ and another as beautifully buoyant, it gives you that warm comfy feeling condensed into eight and a half minutes.

So Close by Kidnap Kid, is quite simply what all clubs should sound like. He’s got a great knack of plotting a melody and his latest track is no exception.

Finally, Ricky Eat Acid’s let rip with a lovely ambient soundscape, I Can Hear The Heart Breaking As One. It’s almost cinematic in scope and apparently found it’s form in a rather apocalyptic recurring dream. I hope the end of the world really does sound this beautiful.

That’s your lot for February. Enjoy!
