ScotDrakula are a punk trio from Melbourne who released their second album, BURNER, at the end of November. This is garage rock at it’s best, a perfect trade-off between allowing the vocals to be heard properly (for sing-a-longs and so forth) and the lo-fi sensibilities that characterizes the genre. Too often (for me at least) bands overdo the fuzz and it detracts from the songs. Here ScotDrakula have perfected it. With bands like these guys, Mining Boom, BLACK ZEROS and so on, Australia is really staking a claim to be the new home of summer punk music.
