Rem’s Floating Chandelier are back with a free to download LP ’Think of the Willows’. The album takes on the ambient, dreamy sound from their first release (which I wrote about a while ago) and continues to throw in the odd change of direction to keep things interesting. For example the drum heavy (comparatively at least) ‘Daydreams’ and ‘Rem’s Lost Jewelry Box 1959’ are very different from ‘Tayuya Mountain’, the exotic sounding opener. I think variety in this genre in key to prevent the whole album blending into one amorphus blob.
I like where this band are heading and hope they continue to release such well crafted and varied music in the future.
