Richard Knox and Frederic D. Oberland – The Rustle of the Stars

A good concept album is hard to find, so it’s all the more exciting that Richard Knox and Frederic D. Oberland (of Glissando and Farewell Poetry respectively) are soon to release The Rustle of The Stars, ‘”a musical passage through the North Pole explorer diaries” inspired by:

The first polar expeditions, Edgar Allan Poe’s Dream-Land, the ships trapped or crushed by ice, the point of no-return, the minds sinking, the attempt on the Pole ending in disaster, the quest of the Northwest Passage, Erebus & Terror, the Mercy Bay, Mangazeya, Charles Francis Hall, Beechey Island, the Midnight sun and the Polar night.

Despite the desolate subject matter, the tracks released so far emanate a warmth and ethereal charm that is more than a little addictive.

The Rustle of The Stars is released on Leeds based Gizeh Records (Conquering Animal Sound, Worriedaboutsatan) on November 7th. Get it here.
