Hidden Orchestra – Night Walks

Night Walks, Hidden Orchestra’s first album, came out last September, a melding of almost every musical genre you could ever conceive, with influences ranging from Aphex Twin to Debussy, Radiohead through to Madlib. The BBC described it as “beautiful noise,” while The Daily Record went for “every bit as jaw dropping as DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing,” and pretty much every one else chucked out the word “stunning” in rather copious quantities. It’s probably fair to say that it was well received.

Despite all the hubbub I was off doing my own thing, so this is the first I’ve heard of them. My sincerest apologies for being desperately late. Check out the video above, a live performance from the 2010 Edinburgh Jazz Festival, and feast your eyes on the simply stunning vinyl below, available through Denovali Records. It’s €19.50 and by the looks and sounds of it, worth every penny.
