Seekae – +Dome

Seekae emerged in 2008 with their debut, The Sound of Trees Falling on People. It was equal parts glitchy, 8-bit, instrumental hip-hop and ambient soundscapes. It was simply put, rather beautiful. It was fairly popular too, Rolling Stone lauded it as “an album that’s as ambient and mesmerizing as an iced-over forest” while it also earned them support spots alongside PVT and Mount Kimbie. If it sneaked under your radar back then it’s probably best if you check it out on Spotify.

+Dome, their sophomore release, came out in March this year. It’s very much in the same vein, although as (the excellent) Resident Advisor comment, it’s noticeable that it’s “been crafted in the wake of post-hip-hop and post-dubstep.” They go on to label it “one of the most interesting records of the year” and praise “the calibre of the soundscape as a whole.” Check out 3 above, the second track of the new album.
