I have to thank the rather brilliant Altered Zones site for bringing Galapagos to my attention. Galapagos is Jacob McNaughton of Phoenix, AZ. Ian Paul Roger Nelson of Friendship Bracelet, one of the many blogs that contribute to Altered Zones, describes the Galapagos’s first EP, Sounds Vol. 1, as “a nice slice of sample based hip-hop … setting chopped vocals and little piano flourishes over heavy-set drum beats” and goes on to praise the production and length of the release.
