The Dirty Projectors & Björk

Things I love:

– Björk

– Harmonies

– Whales

By some stroke of genius on the part of Stereogum’s Brandon Stosuy, the three have been beautifully combined in the form of The Dirty Projectors and Björk’s collaborative album Mount Wittenberg Orca. The seven track record has been a constant feature in my library for the past 6 months and – easy as it might be to dismiss it as gimmicky on first listen – shows no sign of growing old. The concept album, which sees Björk assuming the character of ‘mother whale’, clocks in at barely over 20 mins, but the stripped down layering of vocal harmonies and minimal instrumentation combined with Björk’s unmistakable voice make it a thoroughly engaging listening experience (albeit tragically brief).
